Loganair To Create 12 Jobs With Crew Base At Durham Tees Valley

Loganair has unveiled plans for a new crew base at Durham Tees Valley Airport that it has said will create 12 jobs. It follows the Scottish regional airline’s announcement in August that it was launching a regular service connecting Aberdeen with the North East England airport.

It will be Loganair’s second crew base outside Scotland, complementing its 28-person operation at Norwich.

The plans have been hailed by the airline as a clear sign of its commitment to developing services at the Teesside airport, where it said a number of its pilots and cabin crew would be permanently based from early 2018.

Building on strong links between Aberdeen and Teesside

The airline’s operations at Durham Tees Valley commence this month, with crews from its existing Aberdeen operating base providing support for the new services between the North East England airport, the Granite City and Norwich.

It has added that the “mainstay” of its fleet – the 33-seat Saab 340B – will be used for the new links, which will provide more affordable and frequent flights to the North Sea’s oil and gas gateway, while bringing back a connection between Teesside and East Anglia that has been absent for two decades.

“Fresh opportunities for pilots and cabin crew”

Loganair chief operations officer Maurice Boyle commented: “We’re delighted to be establishing an operating base at Durham Tees Valley, opening up fresh opportunities for pilots and cabin crew to join Loganair.

“These jobs based at Durham Tees Valley will create many economic benefits in the local area, enabling those living in the region with aviation experience to join a progressive airline employer with a strong focus on the welfare of its team members.”

Steve Gill, chief executive at Durham Tees Valley Airport, added: “This announcement is very welcome and further evidence of the strong commitment of Loganair to develop a long-term relationship at DTVA.”
